A Simple Chili Dinner


Fall creates a shift within my soul as the season begins to become calmer, the leaves begin changing, and Mother Nature prepares for the colder months that lay ahead. 

Our family has formed a connection to the land surrounding us and a more profound love of nature. 

I savor the intentional time spent outside; food is always a big part of this time spent with others. It is my way to show nurture and bring my people together. 

As the days get shorter and more relaxed, I am drawn to comforting-nurturing foods that feel like home. It must be a nostalgic remembrance of my childhood and the sense of home-cooked food. Homemade chili is one of my favorite meals during this time of the year. It is easy to prepare and simmer indoors or over an open fire. The delicious aromas fill the air with all the good feels of the season. 

I cooked our meal indoors and easily transported it outdoors in a cast iron cauldron for a relaxed gathering around the fire with family and our furry family members. We love to gather around an open fire and share a simple homemade meal. As you probably know by now, I love to create beauty with even the simplest of meals.

Icelandic pelts add a coziness to our Adirondack chairs around the firepit. An old farm table is brought up from the barn and used for surface prep and dining. A mix of chairs and stools adds a casualness to our seating. Foraged branches with turning shades of ochre add a rustic and colorful texture next to the stacked white gourds. 

Vintage pieces fill the table with Blue and white stoneware bowls, citron glassware, cast iron cauldron, linens, and mixed silver to refine our intentional gathering.  

Wherever home is to you, A simple chili dinner or a warm bowl full of love is the perfect way to welcome your family and friends. Sharing a meal with someone you love doesn't have to be outside around a firepit.

My hope is that this brings a bit of inspiration to you - giving you the freedom to connect with your surroundings and simply have a beautiful meal together.
