The Harvest Table: A Guide On Gathering

We share the beauty of a seasonal gathering as we celebrate nature’s color palette: earth tones with hues of amber, sage green, ochre, and dusty rose.

“Fall has always been my favorite season - when everything bursts with its last beauty as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”

- Lauren DeStefano

Let’s kick off with a “French 75 Cocktail.”

A little fun fact about the French 75 Cocktail - The drink’s combination of gin, champagne, lemon juice, and sugar was said to deliver such a “kick” as the 75-millimeter Howitzer field gun used by the French and the Americans in World War 1.

What could be more comforting during the cooler months than a bowl of Simple Butternut Squash Soup?

I have tweaked the original recipe a bit. I added a garnish of pan-seared pancetta and julienned green apple.

It is fun to take a basic recipe and add your personal touch. Have fun with it!!

And what could be a more perfect accompaniment than French bread from a local bakery or market? Slice the bread diagonally, brush it with olive oil, and top it off with freshly shredded parmesan cheese. Broil until the bread is toasted and the cheese melts.

How about a rich bourbon pecan tart topped with homemade vanilla-infused whipped cream or vanilla bean ice cream for dessert? It’s a delicious finishing touch for a seasonal gathering with family and friends. Let yourself linger while enjoying everyone’s company and taking in the season's rich palette and sheer beauty.

Fall’s Perfect Palette

To complement the natural beauty of fall, I’ve created a color theme with vintage finds from Shop the Farm, as well as my own collections.

I’ve been growing and adding to my collection for years, so don’t assume you have to start with this whole list!  I’ve added these categories to help inspire you: Be creative, use what you have on hand, and add to your collection as you discover the right pieces for your home and style.

Choose styles that speak to your soul, and you’ll use them for years. Those unique pieces that speak to you are the treasures you’ll weave together to tell your story. Pick and choose the areas in which to splurge. And remember: Your table setting doesn’t need to be elaborate to look beautiful!

Add a simple arrangement of foraged branches and flowers from a local market or florist.

In general, your guests will enjoy visiting your home and appreciate the time spent together.
